Skin analysis is the starting point for treatment planning, as every decision is based on the actual condition of the skin rather than solely on what the client reports.
In this lesson, you learn how to conduct a professional consultation from the first point of contact, through asking the right questions, to accurately documenting information in the client record. You work with a structured consultation process that allows you to identify connections between lifestyle, skincare habits, and overall skin condition.
You learn to differentiate between skin type and current skin concerns, as well as how to properly assess the skin’s condition. You recognize the characteristics of dry, oily, combination, and balanced skin, along with dysfunctions related to the skin barrier. This allows you to distinguish between symptoms and underlying causes rather than relying only on what is visible on the surface.
You work with practical skin assessment — analyzing skin tension, texture, and sebum levels, learning to distinguish dryness from dehydration, and accurately interpreting variations across different areas of the face.
In the next stage, you learn to identify common skin conditions, including comedones, inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions, erythema, and visible capillaries. You also explore different types of hyperpigmentation and the factors that contribute to their development.
A separate focus is placed on vascular skin — you learn to differentiate between transient and persistent redness, recognize telangiectasia, and assess skin reactivity along with triggering factors.
At the end, you move into treatment planning, where you learn how to translate your analysis into actionable steps — setting priorities, selecting the appropriate treatment sequence, and making ongoing decisions based on the skin’s response.
